Peer review
Submissions are subject to blind peer review. The process, the criteria reviewers apply, and what authors can expect are set out in the author guidelines and the editing policy. The masthead lists the editorial board.
Access model
We would rather you knew this precisely than discovered it later. Abstracts, summaries, and complete citation metadata for every article are freely readable on this site with no sign-in. For works published in a bound issue, the complete text appears in that issue rather than on the site. A subset of pieces is published here in full.
Bound issues are listed on the volumes page. The Journal is also indexed in HeinOnline’s Law Journal Library and in JSTOR, which is where most institutional readers will reach the full text.
Discovery and metadata
The site is built so that library discovery layers, reference managers, and indexing services can read it without special handling:
- Google Scholar — Highwire Press
citation_*meta tags on every article page, includingcitation_issn,citation_volume, andcitation_publication_date. - Citation export — BibTeX and RIS per article at
/api/cite/<slug>and/api/cite/<slug>?format=ris. - JATS XML — a structured record per article at
/api/jats/<slug>. - Stable URLs — every article has a permanent, human-readable address that does not change.
- Machine-readable index — sitemap.xml covers every page, and feed.xml carries new articles and dispatches.
Rights and licensing
Authors retain copyright. Articles are released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 licence (CC BY-NC) unless otherwise noted, so readers may share and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes with attribution.
