By Kate Fazzini

This week, the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division held its Cyber Resiliency and Measurement Challenge, a yearly event meant to highlight upcoming talent at universities with cyber warfare curricula.

George Mason’s team “Secure Information Systems,” led by Professor Kun Sun, included undergraduate students Sam Best and Noah Korzak, and doctoral student Tommy Chin, according to a release from the University.

The University of South Florida and the U.S. Naval Academy teams placed second and third, respectively. Highlighting the classified nature of some of the research, specific details about all team projects are kept private in this competition, but all projects “[aim]to address real-world cybersecurity problems faced by the Navy while gaining valuable knowledge and skills essential for tackling complex cyber threats in the future,” according to the Naval Surface Warfare Center.
