The Office of Personnel Management hired David DeVries, now the principal deputy chief information officer at the Department of Defense, as its new chief information officer, OPM announced Aug. 9. DeVries will join the OPM as CIO in the coming weeks, the office said in a statement.

The new CIO will have his hands full at the OPM. Donna Seymour, the agency’s former CIO, announced she was retiring on Feb. 22, two days before she was to testify at a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on a pair of massive OPM data breaches that were disclosed in 2015.
