CityU Gears Up for Cyber Warfare Strategic Exercise

Graduate students in City University of Seattle’s Technology Institute will be participating in a 4-day cyber warfare simulation in mid-December against students from the University of Washington’s Tacoma campus.

The Cyber Warfare Strategic Exercise, inspired by the annual Pacific Rim Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, seeks to test the skills of students in a real-world environment that can’t be simulated in a typical classroom. Students will be randomly assigned a particular country at the start of the event, and will be given a set of restrictions that correspond to that particular country. They’ll then be given a set of strategic goals – some students will need to protect data, while others will need to obtain it through force – which they’ll need to complete while observing the restrictions set out at the beginning of the exercise.
