What does your company have in common with Target Corp., SonyCorp., Westinghouse Electric Corp., and US Steel Corp. All these companies, and many more, have recently lost valuable company data through cybersecurity hacking. What you read in the press is the tip of the iceberg, and is usually only related to loss of one category of data, called personally identifiable information, because federal laws require that the victims of such breaches be notified. In reality, the losses are much more serious where trade secrets are stolen. The Center For Strategic & International Studies estimated that U.S. intellectual property stolen each year amounts to over $100 billion.
